Found along the rocky shores of Lake Malawi M.lombardoi are sexually dimporhic which means males and females share different colors and with Kenyi cichlids males are bright solid yellow while females are blue with dark bluish black vertical strips. This species can reach around 5 inches in length with females remaining a bit smaller.
Like all mbuna Maylandia lombardoi
are known to eat algae and plankton in their natural environment. In the aquarium Kenyi should be offered a vegetable based diet including spirulina flakes and pellets with freeze dried prepared foods like krill. Males tend to be territorial and do well with multiple females to one male ratio. A decent size community tank with many rocks will provide these mouth brooders opportunity to spawn.
