This cichlid for fresh water fish is actually considered a fun sport fish to catch because of its decent size and its feisty behavior when hooked. These large Central American cichlids are often mislabeled as Red Terror cichlids for sale in pet stores because of the difficulty in identifying them as smaller sizes. Both of these species are beautiful but the Mayan cichlids have some very unique colors in particular the pink and grey coloration against those dark velvet vertical bars. C. urophthalmus make great tank mates in large cichlid community tanks or with other large fish like Datnoids and Arowana and Oscars.
