The genus Thorichthys
is host some eight species of cichlids from Central America. The most recognizable offered species is Thorichthys meeki
, known as the firemouth cichlid. This group of mid-sized cichlids have a distinct body shape in particular their heads which are pointed and they develop long trailing fins. These cichlids are known to reach some five inches in length and not get much larger making them a great candidate for a smaller aquarium or residents of a larger cichlid community tank.
